We woke up early to take the ferry back to San Juan, where our kayak tour guide would meet us at Friday Harbor. We were in a group of 8, divided into double kayaks.
Our route was along the coast on what is known to be a hotspot of orca activity. Spoiler: we saw no whales. I can't say we weren't disappointed, but we saw lots of other cool wildlife and not to mention amazing views. The Olympic mountains were partially covered in clouds in the distance which made them look like they were floating above the water. It was one of the most incredible and unreal experiences I've ever had. I also managed to put sunscreen on every part of my body except the tops of my hands, which were red and hot by the end of the trip. Lessons learned for the future.
